Use your best judgment on who you decide to ask - there is no set formula for who should be your recommenders. We know it is not always possible to have a direct supervisor write your recommendation – we would not want you to jeopardize your current position for the application process. Look at the questions we are asking recommenders to complete. Find people who know you well enough to answer them. This can be a former supervisor, a colleague, someone you collaborate on an activity outside of work. How well a person knows you should take priority over level of seniority or HBS alumni status.
Recently the Harvard Extension Student Association (HESA), the student run government, voted to suspend the Harvard Extension Business Society for including a promo code in an email sent out to our members, and failing to submit paperwork before a deadline. We cannot host events, or email members for one academic year. Members who bought paid memberships this year have been refunded. During the spring semester the Business Society will enter pre-club status and begin to organize an election for the board on the return of the club in June 2018. As the largest club at the Harvard Extension School, we are not going away. Look out for a name change for the organization as well. It is likely HEBS will be renamed the Harvard Extension Student Business Club to fulfill a new HESA requirement. Thank you everyone and see you soon!
